Life has been, well.... life. I haven't posted lately and am struggling with rather or not I want to continue. I guess this isn't any different than most bloggers experience through the life of our blogs.
Jenni over at Story of My Life knows just when I need to get back to the basics of blogging. Her timing is perfect. For the month of September I will be blogging every day in her Blogtember series. Twenty post, one every week day. I highly encourage you to join in on this challenge. It is not only a great way to meet new bloggers, but to also get back to why we blog in the first place.
From the time I was seven until I graduated college, I moved every three or four years. Not just to a new house in the same town, but to new cities, new states, new counties. Through school I never had a huge amount of friends, just one or two. One thing moving teaches you is not to get close to people or let them in. You will be leaving them. Something that I have had a hard time in my adulthood trying to change.
Not being particularly close with my family, it is hard to find a way to work in the people I come from. I have family, that I love. Parents I see a few times a week. A brother that I hardly ever see or talk to, not because of anything bad, we just don't have that relationship. Plenty of aunts, uncles and cousins. But not one that I have any sort of relationship that would be called friendly.
My friends are my family and I love them dearly. They are the ones that have taught me so much about myself over the years. The ones that call out my shit, let me cry when I need to, drop everything when life throws me a curve ball. They are the ones I spend holidays with, make memories with and say I love you to.
Through the many years I have been around, I have been given opportunities so many have not. For years I hated that we moved so much. But moving taught me to adapt, gave me the ability to recreate. Allowed me to experience new areas, new cultures and make friends that I still have. Taught me that change isn't bad, but sometimes a great adventure.
